Antonia Walker (Ana),
the protagonist, is a young woman who is a lawyer by profession. She used to
live in New York with her husband, Landon Walker, before he left her. She later
comes back to the city to resettle but finds it difficult to leave the ghosts
of her past. She joins her job and has supportive people around her who suggest
her to move on. Ana recalls her life with Landon and it turns out he had died
soon after informing her that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer and had
known about the disease for some time. Ana hates Landon but her father-in-law
persuaded her to forgive him. She later finds out that Landon had wanted her to
move on and thus, embarks a difficult journey towards moving on by revisiting
the memories of past and the places she had visited with him, which held
importance. She breaks her heart for once and for all to come out stronger than
ever. Despite the heartbreak and the difficulties she faced in her attempts at
moving on, her soul finds peace and happiness in her own self at the end,
making her emotionally independent. She transforms from a grieving widow into a
strong and happy woman by the end of the story.
